3. Just across the road from the Mount is the Orchard House, also known as "Perllandy" ("Orchard House" in Welsh). Once renowned for its apple and pear orchards, this is among the town's best timbered buildings. The section nearest the road (formerly a shop) is a brick extension with "painted-on" timbering, but the remaining timbering is real and ancient. Formerly a merchant's house, it has also been used as a Baptist meeting place and was once also known as the Swan Inn. It has a delightfully timbered interior with inglenook and surviving burn marks from the rush-lights once fixed to the beams.
