Nestled in the heart of Llanidloes, Powys, Mid-Wales, the Severn View Guest house provides a very warm welcome indeed. Your hosts are Angela and Gareth Morgan, owners of this classical town house, which is full of sumptuous character. Two, rather endearing, Burmese cats greet you as you arrive. Breakfasts are distinguished by the presence of locally reared meat in hand made sausages. Even the bacon is cured in a local Baconery. Exquisite food, comfortable beds, and hospitable company.
Llanidloes has many historical attractions, some of which you can peruse on this official website, including the Old Market Hall, the Town Hall which houses the museum and St Idloes Church. The Quilt Centre is well worth a special visit for its unique exhibitions.
Festooned with public houses and the occasional restaurant, the medieval market town provides an ideal touring base for the area. Places of natural beauty include many stunning reservoirs, especially the Elan Valley - where The Dam Busters practised, and the Clywedog Reservoir for excellent fishing - and numerous valleys for wonderful walks at all times of the year. Within a short drive there are golf courses, a sailing club and the bustling towns of Newton and coastal Aberystwyth.
