Directions on the website. The Old Weather Station (once a meteorological study
centre) is a recently refurbished large self-catering forest lodge situated in
splendid isolation in the beautiful Cambrian Mountains above Llanidloes (7 miles
away). It nestles on the edge of the Hafren Forest close to the source of the
River Severn. The spectacular Llyn Clywedog, with its nature trails, sailing and
fishing is but a few hundred yards away. With central heating, electric showers,
laminated flooring, leather settees, satellite television, table tennis table,
modern bunks (equipped with duvets and bedding) and washing and drying machines,
it provides an extremely comfortable base from which to enjoy the hills, rivers,
lakes and forests and their attendant opportunities for activity. It can sleep
upto 22 in 5-6 bunkrooms and has a spacious lounge and a dining room with patio
doors leading to a lawned garden.
Within its grounds is a woodland area. Office
facilities are available on site by arrangement.
A wide variety of Outward Bound
activities are available by prior arrangement through the A.A.L.A. licensed
Foundry Mountain Activities, whose instructors are expert in the provision of such
activities to adults and children.
